Protect & Monitor
Runtime protection and continuous monitoring
Common Problems
- •Misconfigured WAF causing high false positive rates
- •Lack of visibility into attack surface and threats
- •Lack of continuous monitoring and timely threat response
- •Lack of integration between different security controls
Our Solution
- ✓WAF Optimization: Fine-tuning for maximum protection with minimal false positives
- ✓Comprehensive Visibility: Complete monitoring of attack surface and security posture
- ✓Continuous Monitoring: Real-time threat detection and response
- ✓Integration: Coordination between all security controls
Our Protect & Monitor services help organizations protect their assets at runtime and maintain continuous security monitoring. We ensure your systems are protected against threats through WAF assessment and optimization, continuous security program implementation, and attack surface monitoring.
Our approach is proactive and measurable. We test each control against real attacks, measure the detection rate alongside false positives, and build detection around attacker behavior based on MITRE ATT&CK so that new attacks without a known signature are seen too. The goal is to make the gap between seeing a threat and containing it as short as possible.

What We Need and What You Receive
We agree scope and access with you in advance and, in every case, take the least access necessary.
- Access to the configuration of the controls to be tuned, such as the WAF
- A list of domains and in-scope assets for attack surface discovery
- Access to logs or a lightweight agent for internal monitoring, if needed
- A single point of contact for alerts and in-flight decisions
- A WAF effectiveness report with detection rate, false positives, and tuned rules
- An always-current attack surface inventory with a priority for each item
- Detection coverage mapped to MITRE ATT&CK, with its blind spots
- A vulnerability management cycle with prioritized findings and remediation tracking

Frequently Asked Questions
WAF (Web Application Firewall) assessment evaluates the effectiveness of your WAF configuration, rules, and tuning. It's critical because a misconfigured WAF can either block legitimate traffic (false positives) or allow attacks through (false negatives). Our assessment ensures optimal WAF performance with maximum protection and minimal disruption.
We measure effectiveness by testing, not by assumption. We send a set of known attacks across different classes (injection, cross-site scripting, path traversal, and the like) through the WAF and measure the detection rate alongside the false-positive rate on real traffic. We then test common bypass families such as encoding, content-type changes, and oversized bodies, and tune the rules accordingly. The reference is the OWASP Core Rule Set (CRS).
Tuning a WAF is a loop, not a one-off action. We first run in monitoring mode to see what would have been blocked, then narrow the noisy rules to specific paths and parameters, writing exceptions precisely and by target rather than turning a whole rule off. With each round we review the anomaly scoring threshold so that security is preserved and healthy traffic stays free.
Continuous security monitoring involves ongoing, automated surveillance of your attack surface, threat detection, and automated response capabilities. We monitor for new vulnerabilities, configuration changes, suspicious activities, and emerging threats, providing real-time alerts and actionable recommendations to keep your assets protected.
The attack surface is everything an attacker sees from outside: domains and subdomains, open services, certificates, and assets that may have been forgotten. In attack surface management we continuously discover and monitor these assets and see every new change or exposure before the attacker does. The output is an always-current inventory of what is exposed to the internet, with a priority for each item.
ATT&CK is a shared language for describing attacker behavior: from initial access to lateral movement and data exfiltration. Instead of chasing the signature of a specific piece of malware, we build detection around these behaviors so that even new attacks without a known signature are seen. The same map helps us find where detection coverage has gaps.
Runtime protection involves active defense mechanisms (like WAF, rate limiting, defense-in-depth) that prevent attacks in real-time. Security monitoring focuses on visibility, threat detection, and continuous assessment of your security posture. Both work together: protection prevents attacks, while monitoring ensures you're aware of threats and can respond effectively.
No single control is perfect; any layer can be bypassed. Defense in depth means several independent controls stacked so that getting past one does not mean getting past all: input validation in the application, rate limiting, network segmentation, and monitoring alongside the WAF. If one layer fails, the next still stops the attacker, or at least makes noise.
Detection without response is half the job. For important events the response path is defined in advance: who is notified, what immediate action is taken, and what evidence is preserved for later investigation. The goal is to shorten the gap between seeing and containing, so that an alert does not turn into a breach.
A scan is a snapshot of one moment; vulnerability management is a cycle. We continuously scan the assets, prioritize findings by risk and exploitability, track remediation to closure, and re-test that the fix is correct. Because new vulnerabilities are published every day, only a continuous process can keep you ahead.
It depends on the service. External attack surface discovery is done from outside with no installation. WAF tuning needs access to the WAF's own configuration, and internal monitoring may need a lightweight agent or access to logs. In every case we take the least access necessary and agree the scope with you in advance.
Implementation timeline varies by service. WAF assessment typically takes 1-2 weeks, WAF tuning 2-4 weeks, continuous security program setup 4-8 weeks, and attack surface monitoring can be set up in 1-2 weeks. We follow an iterative approach and can prioritize critical services first.
